The Peugeot 408 is an executive car launched in 2014 by the French automaker Peugeot. It is available in both petrol and diesel engines with a 2-litre BlueHDi 130 or 1.6L THP 140 petrol engine, which can produce maximum power of 102 kW @ 4000 rpm on both versions respectively.

The car comes with 7 speed manual transmission gearbox with optional 6 speed automatic transmission system as standard fitment on all variants except for base model where only 5 speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard fitment along side 4 wheel disc brakes system for improved stopping power during emergency braking conditions at high speeds like highway driving conditions etcetera..

The car is available in both petrol and diesel engines.

The petrol engine variants of the car deliver a maximum power output of 202 hp at 5000 rpm and peak torque of 280Nm at 2500-4500 rpm, while its diesel engines have a maximum power output of 125 hp at 3000 rpm and peak torque of 250Nm at 1750-2500 rpm.

While the diesel versions are equipped with a 2-litre BlueHDi 130 (which delivers an output of 108 hp at 4500 rpm and 320Nm from 1750rpm to 2500rpm) and a 2-litre BlueHDi 150 (which delivers an output of 140 hp at 4000 rpm and 350Nm from 1650 to 2750 rpm).

The 1.6L engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission while the 1.8L engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The 2L engine comes with an optional 7-speed automatic transmission as well

On the whole, buyers get 3 engine options which include two petrol variants (1.6L and 1.8L) and one diesel variant (2L).

The 1.6L and 1.8L variants are available with manual transmission while the 2L variant is available with manual or automatic transmission.

In terms of performance, both petrol variants come with front-wheel drive configuration while the diesel variant comes only with all-wheel drive configuration.

The Peugeot 408 is powered by a 2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 138bhp of power and 200Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. This is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or an optional 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters on the steering wheel (the latter being offered only for the top-end diesel variant). The petrol variant comes only with front wheel drive configuration whereas both diesel variants come with either front wheel drive or all wheel drive configurations.

The reason why we say that this configuration is more efficient than all wheel drive is because it has less weight to push around when compared to FWD cars and also because there’s no need for power wasted on spinning wheels due to traction issues like in AWD vehicles where only one axle gets driven at any given time causing unnecessary losses in efficiency through friction losses between tyres and road surface etcetera…

The top-end model – Panoramic Elite – is equipped with a 240hp 1.8-litre turbocharged, direct injection petrol engine that has been rated at 15.2kmpl by ARAI on Indian roads during test drives conducted by TMR India in Delhi NCR region under real driving conditions during February 2017.

The car comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission (also called EAT8), which helps deliver improved acceleration and also reduces fuel consumption by up to 6%. The transmission also allows for smoother gear shifts compared to older models of Peugeot 408 where there was no automatic option available at all!

Conclusion

The Peugeot 408 is a great car to buy if you are looking for an executive sedan with modern features and luxurious interiors. The car comes with many advanced features such as automatic climate control, electrically adjustable seats with memory function, rear parking sensors etc.
